The right length decides whether your extensions sit like they were made for you, or whether you spend all day wondering why something feels off. And it is less about the number on the label than about how that number lands on your height, your cut and your daily routine. In this guide we walk through the four most common lengths — 35, 45, 55 and 65 cm — and by the end you will know pretty precisely which one is yours. If you want to compare the styles alongside, our hair guide is the place to start.

How length is measured

Our lengths are measured from the clip or wire edge to the hair tip — from the point where the extensions sit in your hair, not from your crown. That matters, because your final look builds on it: your own hair length adds to the overall result. If the halo wire sits roughly at ear level and you choose 45 cm, the hair will fall lower than a plain 45 cm might suggest.

To measure yourself: stand in front of the mirror, hold a tape where the extensions will sit and run it down to where you want the hair to end — collarbone, mid-chest, waist. That number in centimetres is your reference. When in doubt, go a touch longer: trimming is always possible, growing is not.

Where each length falls

Height changes how a length reads. The same 55 cm looks far more dramatic at 1.60 m than at 1.80 m. As a rough guide — measured on an average build:

  • 35 cm — falls roughly to the collarbone. Ideal for bobs and lobs that want fullness rather than length, and for a very natural, everyday effect.
  • 45 cm — reaches about mid-chest. The most subtle "more hair" length: noticeably fuller without anyone doing a double-take. Perfect for a first try.
  • 55 cm — falls below the bust. This is where the classic mermaid look begins, with much more swing and movement.
  • 65 cm — reaches toward the waist. Maximum wow for photos, events and anyone who loves length.

If you are shorter than 1.65 m, every length reads one step more dramatic — many people then deliberately pick 45 over 55 cm. If you are taller, feel free to size up a step.

Subtle or dramatic?

If you are wearing extensions for the first time and mainly want volume, 35 and 45 cm are the safe choice. They sit close to common natural lengths, blend effortlessly and feel pleasantly light. Our clip-in extensions in these lengths are the easiest way in.

If instead you want a real transformation — mermaid waves, dramatic length, the look people notice instantly — then 55 and 65 cm are your range. For an especially seamless fit, take a look at our halo extensions: the invisible wire carries the full length comfortably and disappears completely under your own hair.

Mixing lengths cleverly

Pros rarely work with a single length. The most natural effect comes from pairing a longer base at the back of the head with slightly shorter strands at the sides — that creates the soft, layered fall your own hair has naturally. A little face-framing in shorter pieces around the face also keeps even very long extensions looking organic rather than like a flat curtain.

A practical trick: if you are torn between two lengths, do not buy both at once — start with the shorter one, get used to the fit and feel, and add later. Multi-piece sets like our 4-piece clip-in give you room to place individual wefts higher or lower anyway.

Material and care

Every length is made from premium synthetic fibre with a natural, matte finish — not human hair, but deliberately crafted so that the fall and shine look natural. With the long 55 and 65 cm versions in particular, gentle care pays off: brush from the tips upward, protect from direct high heat and store in a pouch between wears. That keeps the length supple all the way to the ends.

In short

For fullness over length: 35–45 cm. For the subtle "more hair" effect: 45 cm. For visible mermaid swing: 55 cm. For maximum drama length: 65 cm. Measure from the wearing height, factor in your own height and, when in doubt, go longer. Browse our bestsellers and compare the styles in our hair guide — premium sets start from 34,99 €.
