The easiest way to find the right tone is via your undertone: if you see golden reflexes in sunlight and have a peachy skin tone, you lean warm; if you tend towards a cool, ashy shimmer and a rosy complexion, reach for cooler nuances, while neutral types harmonise with both worlds. The five colour families at a glance

Every tone falls into one of five families. This way you'll quickly find the range that suits your natural hair colour or your desired look.

1. Black & dark brown

Deep, rich tones for an elegant, clear look – ideal for dark natural hair colours. Undertone: neutral to cool. A soft natural black looks more natural than a hard jet black and flatters almost every skin type.

2. Brown

The most versatile family: from dark chocolate brown through warm medium and light brown to cool ash brown. Undertone: warm to neutral, with a cool ash option. Golden, warm browns flatter warm skin types, while ash brown makes cool and neutral complexions look especially modern.

3. Blonde

From warm honey and golden blonde through sandy blonde to cool platinum. Undertone: warm (gold, honey) or cool (ash, platinum). Warm skin types glow in golden and honey tones, cool complexions look especially fresh in ash and platinum blonde.

4. Balayage, ombré & highlights

Multi-dimensional tones with flowing transitions and highlights – recognisable by codes with H, TT or two numbers. Undertone: mixed – choose by the dominant ends. They give your look natural depth and sun-kissed liveliness without having to colour your own hair.

5. Red, copper & mahogany

Warm, expressive tones from copper through mahogany to intense red. Undertone: warm. This family brings warmth to the face and especially flatters golden and peachy skin types.
